ABOUT THE FARM:
Lauriston Farm is located south of Edmonton, Alberta,
Canada. Its 160 acres supports a thriving herd of Highland cattle.
For the past eight years the main focus of the farm has been breeding Registered Highland
Cattle. Sheltered behind groves of trees, the farm is an ideal spot for raising quality,
cared for animals.
We moved to this farm in 1974 along with our two young sons and, both of us being Scots by
birth and upbringing, we looked forward to one day owning a small fold of Highland Cattle.
In the meantime we worked hard at restoring this old farm and raised purebred goats and
dogs. It was actually through the dogs that Highlands came into our lives again. A
rancher, who had a fair herd of Highlands, was interested in one of our Jack Russell
terrier puppies and after a little persuasion we were the proud owners of a cow and calf
and a yearling heifer. A bull was all we needed and we were Highland breeders!
Now, some years later we have a smallish fold of 20 breeding cows and a fine herd sire. We
are pleased with our efforts so far and are determined in our resolve to improve the
quality of our breeding program. |
