This site is being provided to allow those looking for Scottish Highland semen to compare bulls available for artificial insemination.

For semen purchases please contact the farms directly.

Our goal is to aid the Highland breeder or cross breeder in evaluating the Highland bulls available for semen & embryos in their countries and to make it easier for someone  to introduce genetics that they value into their own herds.

Farms will be listed under their country of origin.

If you have a bull that you would like listed please contact us attention Kevin MacCrea at:

Advantages of Highland Cattle

-excellent brood cows-

Natural, unassisted calving: well grown yearlings breed readily, calve at 24 months without assistance and give plentiful rich milk.

Exceptional Mothering: Cows are devoted and protective of their calves with a long and persistent lactation.

Long Productive Life: Highlands are a long lived animal. Cows 16 years of age and older are capable of having a calf, and commonly do. Their teeth are unusually durable, resisting wear and decay.
Easily Handled: Highlands are by nature calm, docile and gentle-tempered, and respond especially well to quiet handling.

Highlands in Commercial Beef Production: Using Highland bulls in a commercial herd eliminates calving problems without reducing weaning weights. Increase calf survival with strong, healthy fast growing calves who will out winter easier and cheaper than others.

You get a lot more sleep when you use a Highland bull.

Highland genetics can be of great value to the commercial rancher who wants a top notch crossbred cow herd.
